CAREER GOAL
Marine Biologist/Entrepreneur
Although school was hard, I’ve learned that my brain working differently is actually a blessing—it allows me to see and understand ideas others cannot.
Tatum has thrived as a student-athlete and servant leader, balancing football, lacrosse, and rigorous coursework while overcoming the challenges of a processing disorder with resilience and determination. A member of the Marine Science Academy, he completed college-level courses, field research, and even an internship protecting sea turtles along North Carolina’s coast. His leadership extends beyond the classroom and field—through his church youth group, mission trips, and the Appalachian Service Project, he’s helped rebuild homes and support families in need. At NC State, Tatum plans to study engineering, driven by a mindset that values hard work, service, and the unique perspective his challenges have given him.
